Forget Dinner vs Pure: Pick Your Pace for Casual Dating
Pure sets a 24-hour clock on its chats unless you both switch it off. Forget Dinner is built around a profile that stays.
Pure suits you if you want quick, private chats that expire after 24 hours unless you both keep them. Forget Dinner suits you if you want a profile that stays, daily match suggestions and conversations you can build at your own pace.
Pure is an open-minded dating app, on the App Store since 2013, where everything starts with a personal ad. The facts here come from its FAQ, terms and store listing, all read on 16 October 2026.
A first message
How does a first message go on each?
Pure runs on personal ads and a 24-hour clock. Forget Dinner runs on profiles and daily suggestions.
On Pure
Post your ad
You cannot see anyone until your personal ad is up: up to three photos, your turn-ons and a goal for what you are looking for.
Like an ad you fancy
Likes live for 24 hours after you open the app or post your ad.
Match and chat
A mutual like opens a chat. Photos, voice messages and video calls are all there, and screenshots are blocked.
Beat the clock
After 24 hours the chat expires, along with everything shared in it, unless you both agree to turn the timer off.
On Forget Dinner
Build a profile
Choose a username, add photos if you like, and say what kind of dating you want.
Browse your suggestions
A fresh set of matches arrives every day, weighed by age range, distance and what each of you is after, or you can look at singles near you.
Send a message
Classic members get a limited number each day, and VIP removes the limit.
Take your time
Reply when you have something worth saying. The profile will still be there tomorrow.

The clock
What disappears, and what stays?
Here is what Pure says is on a timer, next to what stays put on Forget Dinner.
- Pure chats24 hours, unless both keep them
- Pure likes24 hours
- Pure self-destruct photosgone once opened
- Your Pure adstays until you hide it
- Your Forget Dinner profilestays until you remove it
- Cancelling on Forget Dinnerkeeps your profile
Neither design is better in itself. A clock suits a mood for something quick and light, and a profile people can come back to suits a mood for something that builds.
Pure’s strengths
When Pure suits you better
You want it quick
Likes and chats run on 24-hour clocks, which suits a yes-or-no mood.
You want little trace
Photos can self-destruct, screenshots are blocked and chats expire, in the spirit of Pure’s line that what happens there stays there.
You like saying it with an ad
Turn-ons and a looking-for goal sit on a short personal ad, so people know what you are into before anyone says hello.
You like a safety net on the night
Safety Signal shares your location and your date’s photos with a trusted contact for two, four or six hours.

Pure, answered plainly
Do Pure chats really disappear?
Pure’s FAQ says chats expire after 24 hours, along with anything shared in them, unless both people agree to turn the timer off. Likes last 24 hours too, and a self-destructing photo vanishes once opened. Pure also says screenshots are blocked and the other person is told if one is attempted.
Do you need a Pure subscription?
Yes, to get the most from it: its terms say you must activate a subscription to use all its features, and plans renew until you cancel. Forget Dinner puts every new member on Classic, with VIP and VIP Plus above it as paid plans, and the 12-month ones do not renew. The pricing page has the detail.
Feeld or Pure for casual dating?
They suit different people. Feeld is made for open-minded singles and couples, with Desires and linked profiles. Pure is built around a personal ad and chats that expire after 24 hours. Forget Dinner is the plain option, a casual dating site with a profile that stays. Our Feeld comparison covers the first.
Can I use Pure on a computer?
Pure’s terms describe a web app that works in a browser on phones, tablets and computers, alongside its iPhone and Android apps. Forget Dinner is browser-based too, and a home-screen shortcut turns it into a web app on your phone.
Is Pure anonymous?
Pure says other members see only your ad, never your email or real name. On Forget Dinner you show as a username with your nearest town or city. One thing to know: Forget Dinner belongs to a group of partner sites, and their members can see your profile as well. Choose photos and details with that in mind.
